Hong-Kong Chamber of Commerce,
Hong-Kong 21st September 1892.
Referring to your letter of the 21st of July last
requesting me to obtain and transmit for the information of
His E.cellency the Governor the opinion of this Chamber as
to the working of Ordinance No. 15 of 1891 during the year
in which it has been in operation, I have now the honour to
inform you that the attention of the members was at once
called to this subject, and, in compliance with a special
requisition, a general meeting to consider the working of
the Ordinance was held on the 24th of August and adjourned
to the 15th of September.
A lengthenec uiscussion took place on each occa-
sion, and at the meeting of the 24th of August the following
resolution was proposed by Mr. J. J. Bell Irving and second-
ed by Mr. John S. Lupraik.
"That in the opinion of this Chamber it is undesirable
"at present to make any change in Orainance No. 15 of
#1891 known as the 'Share Bill."

At the adjourned meeting of the 15th of September
the following amended resolution was proposed by Mr. bald and seconded by Mr. G. Slace, the over of the origi-
nal resolution agreeing to accept the amendment.
"That in the opinion of this Chamber il is wearable
"at present to make any change in ordinance No. 15 of
1891
